Arminius Vambery and the British Empire

This study examines the life of Arminius Vambéry, the nineteenth-century Hungarian writer, intellectual, and informal diplomat who traveled extensively throughout Central Asia. It uses his experiences to explore the identity politics of the period and the political and intellectual concept of Orientalism.
